What is Investing?

Investing is essentially the act of sacrificing a resource (time, money, car, ... etc.) in the present for a greater resource in the future. When you go to school, you're giving up time in the hope of getting a better career in the future. When you invest in a business you're giving up money in hopes of seeing the business grow in the future.

Capital Investment

This is the type of investing that we are most familiar with, and what I help people to do in order to prepare for retirement. Capital Investing is where you use your money (or another asset) to invest in a company and take part of the companies earnings (through dividends) and growth (through stock appreciation).

Time Investment

This type of investment is done when you give up some of your time for something. When you start a business there is usually some capital investment, but the real expense you take on is the amount of time that you have to give up to try and make the business grow.
